Granted, neither one of these Big Ten representatives possess winning records in conference play thus far this season. But this is still a pretty exciting matchup. The Golden Gophers take it on the road to Jack Breslin Student Events Center to face the Spartans. Yes, I know Minnesota has lost and failed to cover their last two outings on the road in Indiana and at home against Iowa. But this is still a team that overall, owns a very impressive record of 12-5. Furthermore, they have been money against the spread, covering 14 of 17 games this season. They have covered two of the last three meetings against today's opponent. And I really do feel giving them more than double-digits is a mistake. With all respect to Michigan State, I just don't see this team competing in the conference this season. Yes, they did rebound from two consecutive road losses at Northwestern and Illinois, to return home and take down Rutgers four days ago. While both teams have a couple of players listed as questionable or out this evening (check status), trust me when I tell you, the Golden Gophers still have the personnel to make this game a very competitive matchup. Statistically, both teams are almost mirror images of one another, both in scoring and in points allowed. I will admit that from beyond the arc, the Spartans have a slight advantage. But this game will be won in the trenches. And I believe the Golden Gophers have the height and the muscle to dominate at both end of the court on the boards. They will certainly keep this one a lot closer than the point spread. Take Minnesota. Thank you.

s is a play on the CANISIUS GOLDEN GRIFFINS for our Friday Free Play. Canisius is off to a 2-4 start in the MAAC but that record could be so much better. The Golden Griffins have dropped three of those games by 2, 5 and 3 in overtime which each that could have gone the other way and most recent, they are coming off a 25-point loss at home against Fairfield on Monday so they will be out to get things right. Canisius was picked to finish third in the conference and while it has work to do, it is just two games out of third place and while it is 1-6 on the road, two of those losses were covers at Syracuse and Pittsburgh with three others coming down to the final minute. A current 0-5 ATS run is adding value as is the name of who it is playing. Iona has been the dominant team in the MAAC for years but it too has struggled out of the gate with a 2-3 conference record as it had to replace head coach Rick Pitino along with four starters. The one returning starter is Osborn Shema, the preseason MAAC Player of the Year but he has battled injuries all season and is averaging just 6.8 ppg.
